With yet another series of The X Factor courting controversy and column inches, former contestants JLS have revealed that they think the treatment of contestants Rylan Clarke and Christopher Maloney is "unfair".

The boys spoke to the press this week about the controversial pair and insisted that they're only there because they are loved by the public.

Marvin Humes told Digital Spy: "One thing I don't like is the witch hunt with Chris and Rylan. I think it's unfair. It's not their fault they're still here. People are voting for them. Everyone says this thing about a 'fix'. It's ridiculous. I think if something was a fix the favourite would win. It doesn't make sense to me."

"But I do think it's unfair that they're getting death threats and bad press and things like that. I think it's really bad. They're just two guys that wanted to enter a competition like we did. Like Leona Lewis did. Like One Direction did."

Aston Merrygold added his two cents saying that "every year it's the same thing" and "someone has to go."

"If people don't vote for them, they will go home. This is how these shows have worked for the past ten years or whatever it is. We've seen it over the years, it's always the same thing."

Meanwhile Oritsé Williams added of Maloney and Clark: "There's something about them that's entertaining. They're the most talked-about contestants on the television programme."
