Katie Hopkins Hits Out At Those Sympathising With Peaches Geldof Death Following Heroin Reports

Katie Hopkins may have kept fairly quiet after Peaches Geldof tragically died earlier this month when many expected her to voice her opinion, but as the 25-year-old's cause of death was revealed yesterday, Hopkins was quick to take to Twitter to blast those expressing their sympathy towards the star.

It was revealed yesterday that heroin was "likely to have played a part" in Peaches' death and following the reports, Katie was quick to speak out about the whole thing.

Hopkins posted on Twitter: "If Peaches was a mother on benefits living on a council estate, would you all still be wearing your 'right on' badge with such pride?"

She then said: "*trots off to get degree in drug use in order to be allowed an opinion*" (sic)

Explaining why she'd decided not to tweet her condolences following the tragic death Hopkins wrote in her weekly Sun column earlier this month, referencing her clash with Peaches on ITV's This Morning about parenting styles: "Peaches and I met once, on a TV sofa in central London. We were strangers and remained adversaries.

"Peaches didn’t want a tweet from me. She didn’t welcome it in life. She certainly didn’t need it in death. She was tough enough not to seek approval from anyone. I admire that trait in others."

Touching on Peaches' strained upbringing, she went on: "Growing up without a mum brought heartbreak into Peaches’ life. Her death threatens to do the same for her boys. History has done a terrible thing and repeated itself. When everything seems lost for one poor family, there is only dignity to hold on to and privacy to give. Sir Bob kept his dignity with words of raw despair."

"I offer privacy with silence," she added. "Peaches didn’t need tweets from celebrities or strangers — she just needed a mother’s love."

An inquest into Peaches' death yesterday revealed that heroin was in the socialite's system when she passed away and that the drug was "likely" to have played a role in the death.

Peaches' death echoes that of her mother Paula Yates who died of an accidental heroin overdose in 2000.
