Katy Perry 'Remembers Hitting Rock Bottom To Appreciate Success'

Katy Perry may be able to see into the future as she claims that she always knew she would become a pop superstar, revealing that she believed that she was “the chosen one.”

When the 'Part Of Me' singer was just 17 she moved away from her evangelical family and came to Los Angeles to chase her dreams of pop stardom.

The 28-year-old was given her first glimpse into fame when she began working with producer Glen Ballard which was enough to convince the aspiring singer that one day she would become a superstar.

Revealing all to OK! magazine, Katy explained: “At the beginning I was working with Glen and everything was cool. I had a black jetta, my first car, and I thought I was the s**t.

“I remember my cousin said: 'You should be grateful for this because it could all go flying out the window at any moment. And I was like, 'Not for me. I'm the chosen one.' Then the rug got pulled from underneath me.”

The teenager's album with Glen never hit the shelves but eventually after the collapse of two record deals Katy's persistence and self-belief paid off signing to Capitol Records and releasing her breakthrough hit 'I Kissed A Girl' which topped the charts across the world.

However, the star admits it was those lessons she learned when she was a rock bottom that keeps her grounded today: “I needed that to appreciate what I have now. I just keep that in mind when things go bad. There's always a way for things to get better.”
