Staff members at New York's Empire State Building have responded to Liam Payne's claims that the security were "disrespectful" to his family, claiming it was the One Direction singer who had "bad behaviour."

The 'Live While We're Young' heart throb visited the landmark over the weekend with his family ahead of the band's performance at Madison Square Garden on Monday.

However, it seems the 19-year-old didn't have the best experience, accusing security of being "arrogant" and "disrespectful to my family."

"Just been to the Empire State Building had a great time except... The security detail in particular the senior security supervisor was arrogant, unprofessional and extreamly disrespectful to my family @EmpireStateBldg #TheresAlwaysTimeForManors," Liam tweeted earlier this week.

After keeping silent for most of the week, staff at the Empire State Building have now responded to Liam's claims, saying that it was actually the singer was acting up through the iconic building's official Twitter page.

"@Real_Liam_Payne bad behaviour not accepted at ESB. No, our security does not know who you are, and does not care," a tweet read which was posted on the landmark's account.

Realising he may have been in the wrong, Liam updated his fans on the situation earlier today, tweeting: "Seems there was a bit of a mix up when I was at the empire state. all good. Sorry for confusion looking fwd to next timeeeee!"

We're glad that's all cleared up!
