Marlon Wayans Refuses To Apologise Over 'Racist' Joke About Delta Goodrem’s Dancing At Beyonce and Jay Z’s Concert

Marlon Wayans is often making inappropriate jokes as a comedian but, he may have taken it too far when he mocked Delta Goodrem’s dancing at Beyonce and Jay Z’s concert on Sunday, describing her as an “unrhythmic white woman,” which prompted a flood of backlash from fans who branded him “racist.”

The White Chicks actor, who is best known for his role in the Scary Movie franchise, posted a photo from Bey and Jay’s ‘On The Run’ tour show in Pasadena, California, showing Delta dancing beside him as he pulls a funny face.

It wasn’t the picture that has landed Marlon in hot water though, but the caption he wrote beside it which read: “Man I got the most UNRHYTHMIC WHITE WOMAN dancing next to me at the jay and bay concert... This b***h dancing to AC/DC.”

While some found it funny, others thought it was an inappropriate comment to make, but Marlon, who was clearly unaware that Delta is actually a famous Australian singer, refused to backtrack and instead proceeded to poke fun at the situation further. He told his Twitter followers: “Ok so let me start by saying suck it long, hard and til y'all mouths hurt to all these sensitive a*s people.

“Secondly, I ain't apologizing for a joke… I love that all these people calling me racist cuz I stated a fact. She can't dance. Apparently neither can u. Now f**k outta here.

“One day people are gonna understand... I simply don't give f**k. And I refuse to succumb to this new world order if not having an opinion. All comedians, say what u say and let it be said. Never say sorry for a fact, just say f**k off. Be you, be true.” (sic)

He then posted the image again to stand his ground, but this time in black and white, writing beside it: “In Black and white... Still can't dance. I'm gonna annoy u annoying sensitive a**es with collages and repost of this for floodin' my damn timeline all day.”

Delta, 32, clearly has a great sense of humour and brushed off the joke by tweeting: “Had a blast last night,” alongside a video of “The Elaine Dance” from Seinfeld.

Many have weighed in on the controversy, noting that Marlon and his brother Shawn Wayans dressed up as white women for the 2004 box office hit comedy movie White Chicks, including ‏@Za_Maniac who wrote: “How come was it not racist when Shawn and Marlon Wayans dressed up as white people in #WhiteChicks ?? My black folk confuse me though :-/.”

@MrCoreyWhite added: “Delta Goodrem may not be able to dance well but Marlon Wayans was in White Chicks.”

In an attempt to diffuse the situation, Marlon joked that his White Chicks character and Delta should have a dance-off, sharing this hilarious clip as a reminder:

Marlon isn’t the only comedian who has received backlash over offensive jokes though as these funny guys have found out:

Chelsea Handler:

In 2014, the comedian caused a stir during the Oscars when she made an offensive joke about slavery during her takeover of the Huffington Post’s Twitter feed. “#AngelinaJolie just filed adoption papers #lupitanyongo #Oscars -@chelseahandler,” she tweeted.

Defending herself, she later told Good Morning America: “I’m not racist. I date a lot of black people, so that would be a difficult thing to explain to them.”

Tracy Morgan:

The comedian caused a right furore when he said during a stand-up show: “If my son were gay he better come home and talk to me like a man and not [like a homosexual - Morgan mimicked a feminine voice] or I’d pull out a knife and stab that little n**** to death.”

He later issued an apology but he had already upset fans and celebrities like Tina Fey and Chris Rock.

Bill Maher:

The comedian lost his Comedy Central show when he stated after the 9/11 attacks in 2001: “[The US military] have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it’s not cowardly.”
