Star Trek Into Darkness actor Simon Pegg has denied reports that he's set to team up again with his director JJ Abrams on Star Wars.

Ever since Abrams was confirmed as the director of Episode VII, those who've teamed up with him in the past have been the subject of speculation, but it seems that Pegg, who gets on well with the director isn't cast in a role yet.

"No idea where this silly rumour about me attached to the new Star Wars film came from but I can confirm that it's absolute Bantha poodoo (not true)," the Shaun of the Dead star wrote on Twitter.

Pegg is a particular favourite of the director, having also worked with JJ on Mission: Impossible, and as a well documented huge fan of the series of films, many have assumed that he'd be given a spot in the reboot of George Lucas' space opera.

"I've spoken to him and congratulated him but it's not written so there's no casting or anything,[Me having a role] just hasn't come up," Pegg told Digital Spy recently in an interview.

Pegg famously mocked the prequel trilogy in his TV show Spaced, where he burnt all his Star Wars gear in a Return of the Jedi style funeral pyre after watching The Phantom Menace.
