Next Legendary Monsterverse Movie To Be Directed By Grant Sputore
Legendary has closed a deal with I Am Mother filmmaker Grant Sputore to helm the next theatrical title in their Monsterverse franchise. As previously reported, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings scribe Dave Callaham is penning the next installment.
This comes in the wake of Adam Wingard stepping back for another Godzilla & Kong movie; that filmmaker having helmed the last two titles, Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the latter of which recently became the highest grossing in the Monsterverse franchise with $569.1M.

I Am Mother, Sputore’s debut feature, world premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews and starred Hilary Swank, Clara Rugaard, and Rose Byrne. The sci-fi thriller was acquired by Netflix.
As a commercial director, Sputore’s work has been recognized at every major advertising award show around the world, including the Cannes Lions, D&AD, Clios, Spikes, NY Festivals, London International and AWARD. The filmmaker is repped by CAA, Navigation Media Group, and Jeff Hynick and Peter C. Sample at Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Legendary’s Monsterverse in its tenth year began with 2014’s Godzilla and continued on to 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong and this past spring’s latest installment. Additionally, the series has extended into streaming with the Apple TV+ series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters starring Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell. The Monsterverse also counts an inter-connected world of video games, graphic novels, toys and live experiences.
