Nicholas Hoult surprises Nicolas Cage with middle of the night call for radio game
The actor called the Hollywood star when he was on Greg James' show
Nicholas Hoult tickled radio listeners by calling Hollywood star Nicolas Cage in the middle of the night as part of a game.
The actor was playing a game on Greg James' BBC Radio show that sees the host dialling his guests' famous contracts to check whether they are sitting down or standing up.
James first called boxer Anthony Joshua then decided to try Cage, who Hoult stars with in supernatural comedy horror Renfield.
The actor picked up, and when Hoult asked if he was sitting down or standing up, he replied: “I'm actually lying down, it's so early in the morning.”
“I am so sorry for waking you up!” Hoult apologised.
“I am so so so sorry!”
Chuckling, Cage assured him that it was OK and that he was awake.
“That's alright, I was up anyway,” he insisted.
“I was just surfing some net… I was looking at old Studebakers, the old classic American car. I love the shape.”
The pair had a little chat about whether Cage might buy one.
Hoult then mentioned their shared love of cars and Cage’s 2000 action heist film, Gone In 60 Seconds.
“I am looking forward to doing something with you again Nick," Cage went on.
"I had a blast working with you on this."
The exchange charmed fans, who posted laughing emojis on Twitter.
James seemed to be a bit starstruck after the chat with Cage, whose movies include Moonstruck, Wild At Heart and Leaving Las Vegas.
"Are you kidding me?" he asked after the star hung up.
