Following the shock news of his departure from the ITV show this morning, the Radio One DJ has gone on record as saying that there is no tension between the two camps.

Explaining his side of reports in a special dedicated segment on his Radio One breakfast show this morning, Nick said he’s not about to ‘diss’ the show because he’s no longer part of it.

The star began by saying: “We announced on this show last year that I was going to do X Factor, and maybe now we should say that I’m not going to do X Factor,” before admitting he made the final decision over Christmas.

He went on: “We just had a think about it and sat down, and I just thought it’s one of those things that I loved, I did love it, its not a diss to the show, it’s not me storming out of X Factor being like ‘screw you Cheryl’! It’s a great show and I loved it.”

The former judge has nothing but good words to say about Rita Ora, Cheryl, and Simon Cowell, adding: “I loved Simon, and I loved Cheryl, and I loved Rita, I loved everyone that worked on it, and all the boys as well - the mentoring stuff I really really loved.

"I genuinely loved it, there’s no bad blood. I just want to watch it on the telly.”

Asked what he’d say to his replacement, he then joked: “Don’t do it,” before adding: “Just kidding. It is really fun, its a riot…. It’s not just Saturdays and Sundays, it’s every single day so it becomes your life. You’ll have a great time”

It’s rumoured that One Direction star Louis Tomlinson is now vying for Nick’s position on the judging panel alongside former judge Louis Walsh.
