Nicki Minaj fan who went viral with incredible dance routine in Crocs says 'it was fun'

A Nicki Minaj fan from Birmingham who went viral with an incredible dance routine while wearing Crocs told how he had 'so much fun.' Nat Sweeney pulled off some eye-catching moves as he waited for the rapper's concert at the Resorts World Arena.

The 21-year-old, from Moseley, wowed the crowds with multiple front and back flips and the splits as footage was shared on social media. The US star even re-posted a video of Nat's impressive dance on X, which was viewed 278,000 times. While different clips on TikTok were also watched thousands of times.

The former acrobatic world champion - who teaches at Sparkles School of Dance, in the Fordbridge area of the city, which also shared his performance on Instagram - says he enjoyed every second. Nat told BirminghamLive: "We were chilling near the front in the gold circle area before it (the concert) started. I was just dancing and having fun.

"The DJ did his section and was picking out people who had really good outfits on - telling the light crew to put the lights onto the crowd. I was just there in my Crocs, my hoodie and my joggers. As far as fashion goes, I wasn't really giving it.

"Some people were strutting and my friend started filming me. I did the splits and a little twerk. Then as soon as I did the splits I saw so many people looking at me and were whooping and filming. I thought 'oh my gosh, oh no, no I've got to do something'.

"I thought it would be weirder if I just stood up from the splits and was just like that was it. I don't actually know what happened, it just sort of happened, but here we are. It was fun!"

Scores of Barbz fans from the crowd shared the footage on TikTok on Sunday, May 26. Under one clip, watched almost 90,000 times, a fan posted: "Whoever this lad is just know ur iconic and made the concert even better #nickiminaj #nickiminajbirmingham #tour2024 #birmingham #barbz. In a different clip, seen over 65,000 times, a different fan wrote: "To the boy in Birmingham you SLAAAAYEDD!! #nickiminaj #fyp #pinkfriday2 #worldtour #nickiminajtour #birmingham."

Nat added: "I love Nicki. It's the third time I've seen her. The fact she's seen it (my routine) is wild. I loved the concert. I thought she was incredible." He is no stranger to attracting the headlines after beating leukaemia as a newborn baby with his identical twin brother Oliver.

Nat, now a professional dancer, is due to be in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats the musical where he will play Mr Mistoffelees on Royal Caribbean cruises. He is due to resherse in Miami in July and will perform the show on board the ship from September.
