Nicolas Cage, 59, brings 5th wife, 27, to premiere: all about their marriage

Nicolas Cage and his fifth wife, Riko Shibata, made a stunning appearance together at the New York premiere of his new horror comedy, Renfield.

The 59-year-old actor, who plays Count Dracula in the film, made quite the statement with his eye-catching zebra print trousers and gleaming black leather blazer. Meanwhile, Riko, 27, looked elegant in a slinky black gown.

The couple first met in Riko's native Japan through mutual friends in 2020 and first bonded over their love for pets.

"She likes animals, too, so I asked her, 'Do you have any pets?' And she said, 'Yes, I have flying squirrels.' She had two sugar gliders… I thought, 'That's it. This, this could work out,' " Nicolas toldET.

Their connection was so strong that the duo got engaged via FaceTime that year in August.

"She left New York and went back to Kyoto, Japan, and I went back to Nevada and I haven't seen her for six months," he told his brother on Marc Coppola's radio show

"We were really happy together and we were really excited to spend that time together so I finally just said, 'Look, I wanna marry you,' and we got engaged on FaceTime," he said.

The pair tied the knot a year later on February 16, 2021, in a small and intimate wedding at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.

The images, taken by Noah Dillon, show the couple posing in a range of designer clothes from the likes of Tom Ford, with Nicolas telling the magazine: "We were out there doing our thing.

"We did something kind of historic — photographing in 117-degree weather and building sandcastles," he said, adding: "I don't think that's been done before. And Riko loved it!"

The wedding date holds special significance for Nicolas, as it is also the birthday of his late father.

Nicolas and Riko, who welcomed their daughter August last year, are clearly smitten with each other.

After their wedding, Nicolas shared with People that they "are very happy."

Nicolas' love life has been a topic of interest over the years. His first wife was Oscar-winning actress Patricia Arquette, whom he married in 1995.

The couple eventually parted ways in 2001. Not long after, Nicolas met Elvis Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, at a party in 2000.

They married in 2002, but their union was short-lived, ending in divorce in May 2004.

The actor's longest marriage was to Alice Kim, a former waitress he met in 2004 when she was just 19 years old.

Despite their 20-year age gap, the couple married two months later at a private ranch in northern California.

In an interview with The Guardian in 2013, Nicolas recalled the initial skepticism about their relationship due to the age difference.

However, he emphasized that their love for each other was genuine.

Together, Nicolas and Alice had a son, Kal-El, in 2005.

Nicolas is also a father to son Weston from his relationship with Christina Fulton. Unfortunately, Nicolas and Alice separated in January 2016 and finalized their divorce later that year.

Nicolas' shortest marriage was to makeup artist Erika Koike. The two married in Las Vegas in 2019 after a year of dating.

The union lasted only four days, as Nicolas sought an annulment, claiming he was "too drunk" to get married. In court documents obtained by The Blast,

Nicolas stated that both he and Erika were intoxicated at the time, and he "lacked understanding of his actions in marrying [Koike] to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage."

The actor was granted a divorce in June 2019. This time round, Nicolas admitted after four failed marriages, his relationship with Riko is different.

"I know five is a lot, but I think I got it right this time," he confessed to Los Angeles Times.
