Look, we know there was that whole Best Picture mix-up or whatever, but can we take a moment to talk about the real story of the 2017 Academy Awards? Nicole's Kidman's clapping.

In a night of bizarre moments, there was none weirder than the Lion star's unique way of showing her appreciation for the Oscar winners.

We mean, come on, what is this?!

Maybe someone never taught her how to clap, and the Aussie star is just winging it? Either that or she's doing her best seal impression - in which case, give that woman another Oscar because she is AMAZING at it.

It's fair to say, the good people of Twitter were having a field day with Nicole Klapman:

In significantly less important Academy Awards news, the now-infamous Best Picture screw-up saw La La Land mistakenly announced as the winner before Moonlight was given the gong.

Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway revealed - to no-one's surprise - that La La Land had won the night's biggest honour.

However, while one of the producers was giving his acceptance speech, confusion reigned as it was revealed that Moonlight was the actual winner. Ouch.

The handover was done with grace, however, as La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz said that he was "proud" to hand the award to the Barry Jenkins film.

Beatty explained of the mistake: "I opened the envelope and it said Emma Stone, La La Land. That's why I took a long look at Faye. I wasn't trying to be funny."

Other big winners of the night were Stone for Best Actress for La La Land and Casey Affleck for Best Actor for Manchester by the Sea. In the supporting categories, Viola Davis and Mahershala Ali walked home with the honours for Fences and Moonlight respectively.
