Nigella Lawson is admitting that the ongoing Ozempic craze is “not for me.”

In an interview with The Times, published May 19, the British chef opened up about why she’s not a fan of the idea of taking Ozempic, an FDA-approved prescription medication for people with type 2 diabetes.

It's one of the brand names for semaglutide — also known as Wegovy — which works in the brain to impact satiety. Over the past year, it has become very popular for weight loss, both in and out of Hollywood.

“I read something once where someone said, ‘I was on Ozempic and it was the first time I didn’t think about food all the time,’ and I thought, I can’t imagine anything worse than that,” she told the outlet. “I take great pleasure in thinking about food all of the time.”

“It doesn’t do to be too judgemental about other people’s medical decisions,” she continued. “I imagine if they are prescribed [weight-loss injections] by doctors because they are pre-diabetic or something, then that’s something [different], but they are not for me. I have spent a lot of life trying to help people not feel that food is the enemy. And I am always someone who would prefer to think about what I add to my diet than what I remove.”

Lawson, 64, said it’s a much “healthier” approach when you are “really present when you eat and taste” rather than “just shoveling food in or denying yourself.”

“For that to cease is not something I would ever want to encourage in my life or anyone around me,” the cookbook author ended.

Lawson admitted that when it comes to food, she’s not interested in anything other than pleasure.

“I am at an age where, even with the best will in the world, I have eaten more than I will eat for the rest of my life,” she said. “So I really want everything I eat to make me happy."

In addition to Lawson, other celebrities have also disagreed with taking weight loss injections like Ozempic when it’s not medically necessary, including Jillian Michaels, Jackie Goldschneider, Raven-Symoné, Lala Kent, Danielle Cabral and more.
