As we eagerly anticipate the release of this intense drama, let's delve into the life of Sean Pertwee off the camera, including his longstanding marriage and the tragic loss they've endured.

Sean, 60, originally from Hammersmith London, is the offspring of Jon Pertwee, famed for his portrayal as the Third Doctor in Doctor Who. Sean's acting career took off in the 80s, and he has since landed major roles in hit series such as Casualty, Waking The Dead, Skins, Luther, Death in Paradise, Gotham, You, and Silent Witness.

The actor has been happily married to makeup artist Jacqueline Jane 'Jacqui' Hamilton-Smith since June 1999. Celebrating their 25th anniversary on 12 June, Sean took to Instagram with a heartfelt post.

He uploaded cherished memories from their nuptials, captioning them: "25 years ago today I married my partner, my wife, the love of my life. I love you I love you @jackiehamiltonsmith #silver."

Tragedy struck the family in 2001 when the couple's twin boys were born prematurely. Sadly, one of the twins, Gilbert, passed away just four days after birth, while Alfred (Freddy) miraculously survived despite being comatose for over three months.

In a candid 2016 Guardian interview, Sean opened up about the harrowing experience.

During that interview, he recounted: "My wife, Jacqui, gave birth to our twin boys in 2001 and we lost one. We lost Gilbert while Alfred (Freddy) survived, which was a miracle because they were born prematurely at 25 weeks. Gilbert lived only four days and Freddy survived after being in a coma for three-and-a-half months."

"When Freddy pulled through I made a pledge that I would always be proud of him, always be by his side. Whatever decision he takes in life, I'll support him to the best of my ability."

Sean further divulged that their son Freddy possesses an "older soul", adding: "I don't know whether it's because he's got his brother on his shoulder with him, but he's got this extraordinary calmness, which is something I never had."

He admitted that whilst he was historically "always frenetic, all over the place and angry about things", his son is not of the same temperament, indicating this as "one of the reasons he survived. His soul was there although he was in this coma."
