Yahoo News Nina Agdal Returns to Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue for 60th Anniversary More Than a Decade After Her Rookie of the Year Debut
Nina Agdal will once again be featured in Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue, the magazine revealed on Monday.
“She’s back,” an Instagram post by the publication reads. “SI Swimsuit legend @ninaagdal is making her return for the 60th anniversary issue.”

Agdal originally appeared in SI’s Swimsuit Issue in 2012, when she was named Rookie of the Year. The Danish model was photographed by James Macari in East Africa.
“I was so young and it was my first real big shoot in America,” Agdal told Sports Illustrated. “I didn’t really know what I was doing. I still kind of don’t, but back then I really didn’t know what I was doing. I was more nervous, obviously, being in a swimsuit and knowing how many people were going to see it was extremely intimidating. I was kind of just pretending I knew what I was doing and then it ended up working out. But it’s a completely different feeling from then to now.”
Agdal would appear on the magazine’s iconic cover for six consecutive years before covering its 50th anniversary issue alongside Chrissy Teigen and Lily Aldridge.
For her most recent cover, Agdal traveled to the beaches of Belize, where she was photographed by Derek Kettela.

“It’s been so fun to be back with the team,” Agdal added. “I kind of forgot how much it just feels like a work family. You’re just being supported by everyone around you and you’re able to be yourself and not have to worry about anything.”
Sports Illustrated’s 60th anniversary Swimsuit Issue launches on May 14.
