No arrests have been made since it’s understood a cyclist was assaulted in Christchurch Road, between Manor Road and Boscombe Spa Road, at about 1am on June 8.

At the time, officers were said to be doing “extensive” enquiries into the attack on Saturday morning and a cordon was placed in the road during the nighttime.

Dorset Police remains tight lipped about the circumstances around the assault, which put a man in his 40s in hospital.

When asked for more details around the attack, a spokesman said: “This matter remains under investigation and we are unable to give any further information on the circumstances or the nature of the injuries at this time.”

Officers described the man’s injuries as “not believed to be life-threatening" and he was taken to hospital for treatment.
