QI reunited Great British Bake Off presenters Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding for that age-old Christmas tradition: The Mocking of the Prue.

Tuesday's QI festive special was full of merriment as Noel, Cariad Lloyd, Josh Widdicombe and, of course, Alan Davies decked the hells and even kissed an over-sized chicken - and, no, that's not a euphemism!

Throughout the half-hour episode, it almost seemed like Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding's Bake Off co-star Prue Leith was the honorary topic for the episode since she repeatedly got a hilarious roasting.

Both Bake Off judges unexpectedly first came up while Sandi was sharing a bizarre story about her days working as a journalist.

"For about a year, I worked as a journalist," she began. "Where I worked, it was half journalists and half crooks. Not easy to tell the difference. There was a bloke called Charlie.

"I said, 'Oh Charlie, how are you? I haven't seen you for a couple of weeks'. He said, 'I've been up the knick!' I said, 'What was the charge?' I said, 'What was the charge?' He said, 'Murder one'. I said, 'Did you do it?' And he said, 'No but I owed them one!'"

As it turns out, this Charlie character had even more charming qualities: "[He said], 'Honestly, while I was waiting for the charges to come through, me arsehole was [flapping]'. I don't know why we didn't stay friends!"

Fellow panellist Josh Widdicombe then interjected to a big laugh: "I really hope he turns up on the next series of Bake Off!"

"If Paul and Prue came over and his arsehole was [flapping]," Noel chuckled. "These frogs and blackbirds aren't staying in the pie!"

The Bake Off presenters got in one more joke at Prue's expense while playing a game where they hurled balls at a wrangler James Harkin (dressed in a chicken costume).

When Noel was asked to kiss the chicken, he quipped: "If it's Prue Leith in here, I'm gonna shit myself."

The comic later invited the chicken to join him on the panel and even sit on his lap, but the man-sized poultry refused. That showed a "weird lack of trust", according to Sandi.

"I've never fingered a chicken," Noel promised.

Oo-er! Let's hope those jokes don't make it too awkward when Prue and the whole Bake Off gang spend Christmas Day at Sandi's house – it's become an annual traditional for the cast.

"We're going to do it again," Prue recently announced. "[Sandi] made the mistake by offering to let us do it again and instead of us saying, 'Oh, it's our turn'... we said, 'Yes please Sandi, we'll come!' She cooks, she's a very good cook."

The rest of us can watch The Great Christmas Bake Off at 8pm on Channel 4 on Christmas Day, and The Great New Year's Bake Off will air at 7.40pm on Channel 4 on New Year's Day.
