It looks like a normal semi-detached property from the front - with only a small sign giving a clue about the hive of activity at the rear. The home in Malltraeth on Anglesey was taken on by Jane and Jeff Phillips in 2001 - with the main property supported by a small holiday let.

But the couple had plans for more, with them initially converting a garage into a studio and small gallery where Jane ran painting holidays and classes. They then saw the potential of using the space as a cafe - taking advantage of passing cyclists and walkers.

It started out with them selling drinks and a few homemade cakes in 2009 but grew from there. They extended the cafe into the holiday cottage and expanded to pies, quiches, soups and pastries. The one thing are all are is homemade.

The Riverside tearoom has built up quite a reputation but they are now looking to sell on as the couple both approach 70 and want to retire. It means the house and the hidden cafe is on the market with Williams and Goodwin for £345,000.

Jane said: "We moved here in 2001 and bought our three bedroom semi with a two bedroom cottage which was a holiday let. We converted the garage into my studio and gallery where I ran painting holidays and classes for 10 years.

"Then we saw the potential of running a cafe as we are on the Lon Las cycle route and close to the coastal path. So we started small selling drinks a homemade cakes. Our business has grown and thrived, even through COVID we ran as a takeaway.

"As we grew we extended cafe into cottage area, we are known for everything being homemade by myself.

"Our property is now for sale with Williams and Goodwin as we are both nearing 70 years old and want to slow down and enjoy retirement. It is a very lucrative business with a lovely home and has great potential for someone wanting to locate in a beautiful location."

Williams and Goodwin said: "An opportunity to acquire a well established business together with residential accommodation in a prominent roadside location with attractive outlook stretching over to the Snowdonia (Eryri) mountains in the distance. The three bedroomed semi detached cottage has a further tea room situated to the rear which with the necessary consents even has potential for conversion to a previous use when providing a self contained annex.

"This three bedroomed semi detached cottage which enjoys an attractive outlook over Afon Cefni and the Malltraeth Pool, and has oil fired central heating, is being offered for sale together with the attached business being a well established café/tea room."
