Norman Wells, N.W.T. man charged with 14 offences in series of break and enters

Northwest Territories RCMP say a man in Norman Wells has been charged with 14 offences after a series of break and enters and armed robberies in the community.

Police say they first received a report on Sunday that a masked person had broken into a residence while brandishing a firearm.

The person had fled by the time police arrived, and a search began to look for him, according to a press statement from the RCMP.

Police asy they received another report that morning that the same person had broken into another residence and stolen valuables.

Kevin Kivi, 30, of Norman Wells was arrested and remanded into custody to appear in court at a later date, say police.

Police said they received another report that Kivi held a person at gunpoint while robbing them on Sunday.

Kivi is also alleged to have stolen from a business in the community.

Some of the items were later found "stashed within the community," according to the police statement.

Kivi is charged with numerous offences, including pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief and theft under $5,000.
