North Durham general election results 2024 in full
Labour’s Luke Akehurst has secured the backing of voters in the North Durham constituency.
The ally of Keir Starmer won 16,562 votes, a majority of more than 5,800 over Reform UK’s Andrew Husband. In his victory speech, Mr Akehurst paid tribute to outgoing MP Kevan Jones, who he called an “exemplary constituency MP” who had fought hard for local people and communities.
He said: “He has set the bar incredibly high for what it means to be a hard working local MP for North Durham and I can only hope to emulate his service to local people and communities.”

Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight. Results from across the UK were declared in the early hours of Friday morning, with North Durham declaring around 3.30am.
