North East care home celebrates Pride Month with drag queen sing-along

Residents at Green Lodge Care Home in Billingham have celebrated Pride Month with a sing-along party with local drag queens.

The care home threw a 'vibrant' rainbow party, featuring special guests Anarchy Queen and Veronica Venom, two local drag artists.

Nicola Bowes, Activities Co-ordinator at Green Lodge, organised the event and said: "Lots of our people are young at heart and love nothing more than having fun and dressing up when singers come in.

"I thought it would be really good to try and find some drag queens to visit us for something a bit different while incorporating Pride Month."

Kicking off with a sing-along and dancing to disco favourites, there was also an opportunity for snapshots with the duo.

In addition, the drag queens made individual visits to residents who couldn't join the main party.

Margaret, aged 93, was particularly amused by the duo's hair, joking that she wanted her hair styled similarly by the home's hairdresser.

Eighty-five-year-old Ann admired the reflection of Anarchy Queen's dress, likening it to a disco ball while several other residents wasted no time in joining the dance floor when ABBA songs started playing.
