Go North East take over the Quayside for the launch of a new campaign to 'get your bum on board'. The event featured a specially designed bus as well as a greatest showman character, a diva queen and cabaret dancers.
The campaign was launched in style with the flamboyant cast sashaying across Millennium Bridge in order to catch a ride on the one-of-a-kind double decker. Go North East believes its message is a way to raise awareness of low-cost bus travel which is crucial in encouraging people out of their cars, and it wants people from all walks of life to take note and to start considering taking more journeys by public transport.
Since it was introduced by the government back in 2022, adult single tickets have been capped at £2, making bus travel a more affordable option. The North East wide £1 single for young people was launched in partnership with Transport North East in March 2023.

This also comes after the announcement that the popular Toon Tour bus is set to return this month, after it was named the UK's best open-top sightseeing bus of 2023. The 55 minute journey takes a circular route around Newcastle's top tourist attractions, showing visitors iconic sights like St James' Park, the Hancock Museum, Ouseburn, Grey's Monument and Newcastle Castle
