The new working week is set to bring some mixed news on the weather front.

Monday will bring cloudy skies with a few showers at times. It will gradually become brighter and drier through the afternoon and evening with some spots possibly seeing late sunny spells.

And as we head further into the week, temperatures are expected to gradually rise again.

Tuesday is expected to be a dry day with cloud clearing to bring plenty of sunshine in the afternoon and evening.

Wednesday will be another dry day with variable cloud and some sunny spells followed by patchy rain overnight.

Some brighter breaks to come on Thursday morning before turning overcast in the afternoon with light showers possible and becoming milder.

Here's what to expect in Northern Ireland over the next few days, according to the Met Office.

Monday:

A cloudy morning with a few showers at times. Becoming generally brighter, especially in the south where there may be some sunny spells later. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Dry with sunny spells developing Tuesday. Then dry with some sunshine Wednesday morning, some patchy rain later. Dry again Thursday with sunny spells.

UK long range weather forecast - Friday 10th May - Sunday 19th May

There is a strong signal for high pressure across the UK at the start of this period, bringing a good deal of fine and dry weather for most areas, though with patchy mist and fog in places each morning.

Northwestern parts of the UK are likely to be the exception to this, with more in the way of cloud and rain at times here. The high is likely to maintain its influence into the weekend before starting to weaken during the following week.

So a continuation of largely fine weather seems likely for most through the first few days, before a return of less settled conditions during the week.

Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal for early May, with some very warm days possible.
