Northumberland Plate Day in Newcastle hour by hour weather forecast for big event

Just like fellow Newcastle event The Hoppings, Plate Day hasn't always been blessed with the best weather, with umbrellas required on a few different occasions, to avoid soggy fascinators in the crowd.

Last weekend the start of The Hoppings was bathed in sunshine, as early fairgoers were treated to scorching temperatures on their visit to the Town Moor; with those fine temperatures continuing into this week. Sadly, by Thursday temperatures took a bit of a slide as cloud arrived and there was a heavy rain shower in the Tyneside area on Friday afternoon, meaning all those people with tickets for the Northumberland Plate were left fearing the worst.

A large turnout is expected at Newcastle Racecourse for the annual event, with doors opening at 11 and the racing action going on until just after 5.30pm, before Hacienda Classical arrive on stage to finish off the evening in style, with live performers and mega dance anthems.
