Northwestern University Students Begin to Set up Pro-Palestine Encampment

Students from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, began to set up a pro-Palestine encampment on the school campus on the morning of Thursday, April 25.

Footage from the Party for Socialism and Liberation shows students waving Palestinian flags and chanting, “Free, free Palestine” around tents on the Deering Meadow at Northwestern University.

Police were already present at the scene in the morning, telling people to “leave the space,” other footage posted to social media shows.

Students, staff, and community members circulated a People’s Resolution asking the university to “divest from all defense stocks and investments and from all companies that support Israeli apartheid.”

According to news reports, students plan to stay at the encampment until the requests set out in the resolution are met by the university. Credit: Party for Socialism and Liberation via Storyful
