'We Are Not Afraid': USC Protesters Seen Singing Before LAPD Mobilization

Pro-Palestine protesters gathered on the University of Southern California’s (USC) University Park Campus and sang on May 4, ahead of a second mobilization of the Los Angeles Police Department to dismantle an encampment.

Videos filmed by Jody David Armour show protesters at Alumni Park singing a modified version of the protest song “We Shall Overcome.”

LAPD officers in riot gear dismantled the encampment located in Alumni Park on Saturday night.

KTLA reported that as many as 100 people were in the encampment. No arrests were reported.

USC closed campus on Sunday morning following the LAPD sweep of the encampment, and later reopened it to “students, faculty, and staff upon presentation of valid identification.” Credit: Jody David Armour via Storyful
