Nothing Sacred: CCTV Shows Theft of Brass Eagle From Church Lectern

A church in Birmingham had a brass eagle stolen from its Victorian lectern on June 10, with the hooded suspect caught on CCTV.

Video from St Augustine’s Church in Edgbaston shows the hooded man entering the church and approaching the lectern. He then removes an eagle and covers it in a blanket before leaving.

St Augustine’s Church told Storyful that the man had not yet been identified by police, but that they were being “helped by their neighbours to look at CCTV footage from their houses.”
