Nottingham Forest are reportedly considering legal action against Sky after Gary Neville likened the Reds' statement after defeat to Everton to that of a "mafia gang."

The Reds launched a furious response soon after Sunday's defeat at Goodison Park which saw them denied three penalty decisions. The club claimed to have raised concerns before the game that VAR official Stuart Attwell was a Luton Town fan and have since requested audio recordings from the match.

Forest's statement on Sunday attracted criticism from Neville with the Mail reporting that Forest’s legal team are now drafting a letter to the corporation concerning his comments. "It’s like a mafia gang statement. I mean, honestly, what the hell are they playing at?" The former Manchester United player said on Sky Sports.

"It’s like a petulant child, it’s embarrassing. And some of those things they’re saying in there, the suggestion of some sort of inferring of cheating because there’s an official in VAR in Stockley Park who’s a Luton fan is a scandal, and they will pay for that."

Elsewhere, it is claimed that the club privately acknowledged that their statement on Sunday saw them 'act emotionally and with haste'. However, it is reported that this is unlikely to see them avoid a potential fine with the FA formally requesting observations from the club, Nuno Espirito Santo, Neco Williams and Forest's 'referee analyst' Mark Clattenburg.

It is also claimed that PGMOL chief Howard Webb told Clattenburg he would not remove Attwell from VAR duty despite claims that concerns were made. It is said that Webb was unaware that Attwell was a Luton fan but 'did not believe it necessary' for a change to be made.

Forest currently sit a point above the Hatters who occupy the final Premier League relegation spot with four games left.
