Nottingham Forest will reportedly be investigated by the FA, following their furious explosive rant on social media after they were defeated 2-0 by Everton in the Premier League.

The Reds had three penalty claims turned down at Goodison Park. Ashley Young escaped punishment for two separate challenges inside the box and was fortunate not to concede a penalty for handball.

VAR official Stuart Attwell did not overturn any of the on-field decisions made by Anthony Taylor as Nuno Espirito Santo's men fell to a big defeat in their hopes of staying in the Premier League.

The decision not to reward Forest a penalty led to the club turning to social media to vent their frustrations - accusing Attwell of being a Luton Town supporter. "Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept," Forest wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options."

According to The Independent, the FA have confirmed they will investigate the post made by the club on grounds of the game's integrity.

Forest's controversial statement was labelled 'embarrassing' by Jamie Carragher. He said on Sky: “This tells you where we are with the Premier League now. Stuart Attwell and (referee) Anthony Taylor have had a horrific day today, awful, and they should be rightly criticised for that. And it could be that their decisions have real implications for Nottingham Forest.

“I get the frustration, but what I've just read there on social media, that's like a fan in a pub. That is embarrassing from Nottingham Forest.

“I get the frustration, but that rubbish about the VAR being a Luton fan. You can't get involved in that. You've got to show a little bit of class if you're a football club.

“I get it, the frustration. The officials have had an awful day. Terrible. But you can't get involved in that. That's nonsense.”
