Nottingham Forest have released a statement questioning integrity of the Premier League - as well as hitting out at the officiating during their defeat to Everton on Sunday.

The Blues ran out 2-0 winners at Goodison Park, following goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil in either half. The victory moved Sean Dyche’s side five points clear of the relegation zone.

However, Forest were furious in both halves, as they had three appeals for a penalty waved away by referee Anthony Taylor. The last of those appeals came after Ashley Young brought down Callum Hudson-Odoi.

During the first-half, VAR checked two penalty appeals for Nuno Espirito Santo's side. However, on both occasions, VAR deemed that neither were spot kicks. The first appeal came after Young brought down Gio Reyna, before Hudson-Odoi's cross struck his arm towards the end of the first-half.

And in the immediate aftermath of the full-time whistle going at Goodison, Forest released a tweet that not only said that they were on the wrong end of three 'extremely poor decisions,' but claimed that they had warned the PGMOL in the build-up to the game that the on-duty VAR official for the game was a Luton Town fan.

The tweet read: “Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept.

“We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times.

“NFFC will now consider its options.”
