Facing their relegation rivals away from home is the “worry” for Nottingham Forest in their bid for Premier League survival, former defender Michael Dawson has said.

Forest travel to Everton on Sunday (1.30pm kick-off) as 17th take on 16th. It’s one of three away games remaining for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, with trips to fellow strugglers Sheffield United and Burnley still to come.

Having such big games away from the City Ground is a concern because of the Reds’ form on the road this season. They’ve taken just 10 points from 16 away games, with only Sheffield United earning fewer.

However, their fate remains in their hands, and they could move four points clear of the drop zone on Sunday afternoon. That’s following Luton’s heavy defeat to Brentford on Saturday.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday, Dawson said: “I still think they have got enough to stay in the league, but they have got Everton, Sheffield United and Burnley. All three games are away, and their away form is not very good at all. It’s going to be a worry.

“It’s in our hands, but there is pressure. Everton, you talk about those Everton fans, they are edgy because pressure kicks in. I watched Everton against Burnley. It was a dreadful game, but they got over the line. Forest, I still think they have got enough to stay in the league.”

While their away form is a problem, Forest have actually already picked up more points on the road than they did last season. In their first year back in the Premier League, they earned just eight points from their 19 fixtures away from the City Ground.
