Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United have reportedly “held talks” about a swap deal involving Anthony Elanga as pressure from PSR grows ahead of tomorrow’s accounting deadline.

Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson are the potential swap options apparently being offered to Forest in exchange for the youngster signed from Manchester United last summer.

Both Forest and the Magpies are under pressure to clear players off their books and bring money in before Sunday, but this would seem like a deal Forest do not have to do if - and that is a key proviso - deals to sell Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate to Lyon go through in time.

It is understood that moving the duo on should be enough for Forest to avoid another PSR breach, and with that in mind, Reds supporters have been quick to send a clear and simple message to the Reds. Here is what some of them have been saying on social media…

Michael Brown: You don’t build a team by constantly changing it - evolution, not revolution. Elanga’s got a lot more to offer. Keep him, he’ll have a good season.

Ashley Lees: That sounds like a really bad swap! Going to get better in his second season.

James Scott: That sounds like a really bad idea.

Ross Stokeld: He was bang average through the middle to end of last season and really isn't offering a lot of improvement at goal scoring. Minteh is a better all round player and I think would give us better options.

Mark 'Stevo' Stevenson: Sort the books by tomorrow and put a stop to all the rumours once and for all. Then start to prepare for the forthcoming season and build a mid-table team.

Daniel Eyre: Absolutely not. NO NO NO NO NO.

Woody Balboa: Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson as potential swaps for Elanga? NO THANKS!

Neil Shepherd: “In talks”, if true, might just mean that Newcastle have tried to start the discussion - doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re actually open to it.

Once a red always a red: No, we need to keep our decent players. It’s a joke if we get rid of the good ones.

Redgeezer49: Anderson is a right handful and I would love him to come to Forest, but not at the expense of Elanga.

Kingmonkey: Don't like the idea of offloading Elanga.

Jamilessdodger: Swapping Yankuba Minteh for Elanga is a decent deal,

Honestred75: We can have Anderson but not letting go of Elanga unless it is Anderson and, say, £20m due to him having four years left on his current contract.

Squashman6: Once we have met the required PSR threshold of (reported) £20m on the two sales to Lyon, we should only be looking for stability and upgrades. Losing Elanga doesn't fit with that.
