Nottingham's Binks Yard to host first ever lager festival

Nottingham canalside entertainment, dining and leisure destination Binks Yard, is set to host its first ever This is Lager festival on Saturday May 18. Taking place on the venue's popular outdoor terrace, lager lovers can take full advantage of eight stalls throughout the day, including Asahi, Bavaria, Beavertown, Camden Town Brewery, Estaminet, Freedom Brewery, Hofmeister and Round Corner Brewing.

To help it all go down, Binks Yard’s outdoor kitchen with its monster smoker will be serving favourites such as the Binks burger, smoked hot dog and fried chicken basket, while DJs play hits from the 80s, 90s and 00s. The event will take place from 1pm to 10pm. Tickets are priced at £5 and include either a free schooner of lager, or a house wine, cider or soft drink on arrival.

Arpita Anstey, marketing director at Binks Yard, said: “Following the popularity of last month's Frülingsfest’, our sold-out Bavarian beer festival, we’re excited to be inviting guests back to celebrate a choice of light, crisp and refreshing lager - perfect for enjoying in the sunshine. Meanwhile, our newly installed stretch tent means that we’re fully prepared with cover for whatever the British weather brings.

“This beer festival is just one of many exciting events we have in the pipeline for the spring and summer months, with something lined up for everyone, with a variety of sports, music and more.”

Other events in the Binks Yard calendar include the launch of UEFA Euro championship fixtures on June 16, with each qualifying match set to be displayed on the huge outdoor screen. Step On Festival, the venue’s tribute to the ‘Madchester’ scene, will take place on July 13. Featuring Brunch with Bez, soundtracked by the Manchester icon himself, tribute acts will also take to the stage for a full day of entertainment.
