Nottingham's Savoy Cinema unveils luxury seating and larger screens

Nottingham's oldest picture house has had a facelift. The Savoy Cinema has introduced new luxury seating and bigger screens.

To celebrate the changes, work has begun on a mural at the side of the building. Created by Graffwerk, the artwork will be unveiled on July 12.

The cinema, in Derby Road, Lenton, first opened its doors in 1935 and remains a popular spot for catching the latest blockbuster films. Movie-goers can now enjoy faux leather rocker seats or kick back in fully electric recliners. The double sofa seats have also been upgraded to fully reclining double seats.

The new seats are in screens two, three and four, which also have the larger screens, balancing the vintage charm with a modern twist of comfort and state-of-the-art cinema technology.

The refurbishment is complete just in time for the highly anticipated release of Despicable Me 4 on July 12. General manager Paul Scotton said: "I hope our customers enjoy the comfort of the new seats and new bigger screens, we believe it will enhance their cinema experience as we continue to prove the personal and friendly atmosphere, they have known to expect from choosing Savoy.”
