Great companies in the North East have less than a month to get their entries in to this year’s North East Business Awards.

Nominations for the awards - which recognise the best of the region’s business community - are open until July 12. Prizes are on offer in 11 categories with winners selected in three parts of the region - Tyneside and Northumberland; Durham, Sunderland and South Tyneside; and Teesside - and those winners then competing for the regional prize.

Last year the prestigious North East Company of the Year Award was won by Newcastle law firm Muckle LLP, while other winners included Wootzano, Zentia and BA Joinery. This year’s awards see North East software giant Sage returning as headline partner, with the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland has signed up as a category partner.

Journal editor Graeme Whitfield said: “The Journal has been part of the North East since 1832 and we’ve been celebrating the best of the region for all of that time. The North East Business Awards are a highlight of the region’s business calendar and I’m always amazed by the quality of companies we have in this part of the world.

“I know how much that winning, or even being nominated, can mean for companies in terms of boosting their reputations and profiles, and raising staff morale. I hope as many companies as possible enter the awards so we can really highlight our great companies to the widest possible audience.”
