Nuneaton school reveals expansion plans to help cope with more students
A Nuneaton school is set to expand to help cope with more students. It has been revealed in a Warwickshire County Council report that the George Eliot Academy wants to expand.
In it, it explains that the school, which is now part of United Learning academy, has agreed to offer an additional 30 places for September 2024. This is to help 'meet the forecast demand for year 7 places in the Nuneaton area.
The report goes on to add that, currently, there are not enough science classrooms suitable for an additional class of 30 pupils. "To be able to deliver the full curriculum across the school, two classrooms need to be reconfigured and equipped to make them suitable for teaching practical subjects." it explains.

To pay for the extra classrooms, the county council's cabinet is being asked to agree to pay £310,000, which is from developer funding, for the project. They will meet on Thursday (May 9).
If the school funding project, as well as others across the county in the education capital programme, is agreed, the final decision will be made at a full council meeting on May 14.
