NYPD Arrive at Columbia University Aboard Armored Vehicle

NYPD officers arrived on Columbia University’s campus at the institution’s request on Tuesday evening, April 30, a spokesman said.

The university’s decision to turn to the NYPD “to restore safety and order” came after students barricaded themselves inside the school’s Hamilton Hall.

“We regret that protesters have chosen to escalate the situation through their actions,” the spokesman said. “We will not risk the safety of our community or the potential for further escalation.”
