NYPD Vehicles Arrive at Columbia University

Dozens of NYPD officers arrived on Columbia University’s campus at the university’s request on Tuesday evening, April 30, Columbia spokesman said in a statement.

The university’s decision to turn to the NYPD “to restore safety and order” came after students barricaded themselves inside the school’s Hamilton Hall.

“We regret that protesters have chosen to escalate the situation through their actions,” Columbia spokesperson said. “We will not risk the safety of our community or the potential for further escalation.”
