CUSTOMERS say they were left with zero phone signal for days in Fordham.

One customer David Haynes had been in contact with the network provider O2 but was greeted with their system which indicated “there is a problem with a local mast and engineers are aware.”

David said: “They certainly don’t seem to work at weekends and with the imminent demise of landlines, this could pose a major problem should an emergency arise in the future.

“Any attempt to speak to a real person is near impossible.”

O2 said that service was resumed on Monday morning.

O2’s network team are continuing to monitor the region and say they are ready to support should anything go wrong.

An O2 spokesman said: “We apologise to customers who may have experienced a short loss of service in the Fordham area over the weekend. Services were fully restored on Monday.”
