The Office star Rainn Wilson shares idea for a new episode of the show
The Office US star Rainn Wilson has shared his idea for what he thinks would happen if the show was still making episodes.
The Dwight Schrute actor appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show, where he talked about how the show could have mined the comedic potential of being set during and shortly after the pandemic.
"It would've been so much fun to film The Office during the pandemic. If we had pandemic episodes, that would've been amazing," he said. "The Office writers were so great. They would've been able to spin that in some beautiful ways."

He himself had a way to spin the first episode of a reunion, explaining that his character would take it upon himself to get the gang back together.
"I think it would be: [Dwight] gets the call from corporate to get everyone back in the office and everyone is resistant," he explained. "So, one at a time, Dwight has to kidnap every Office cast member and bring them into Dunder Mifflin in some kind of obscure and somewhat inappropriate way."
While Barrymore loved the idea and wanted it to happen instantly, it's been years since creator Greg Daniels stated that the possibility of some sort of reunion had gone up due to the sitcom's release on streaming service Peacock – yet we're still waiting to see anything become a reality.

While the ensemble cast are no doubt busy with various projects, there's a huge demand for it and reunions for similar projects have happened, so we can only live in hope.
Indeed, at the time Daniels suggested a Friends-style reunion episode could be the way to sate fans' appetite as otherwise he wasn't sure "what is left to say about the characters".
The Office US streams on Netflix, Prime Video, Sky Go and NOW in the UK, and Peacock in the US.
