After slipping down the odds earlier this week Olly Alexander is now firmly back in contention for a strong finish at the Eurovision Song Contest, after his first rehearsal cause a huge stir online and fans declared his staging was 'the best ever.'

It was back in December that Years & Years singer and star of It's A Sin, Olly, announced he would be representing the UK at Eurovision in Sweden, with his entry, Dizzy, being premiered at the start of March. While it quickly climbed to the upper reaches of the iTunes chart after its release and Olly has been promoting the track across Europe on the pre-party circuit, his chances have fallen away, with some bookies having Olly as far back as 100/1 to win.

However, within minutes of photos of Olly's first rehearsal in Malmo surfaced online on Thursday, it quickly became the performance that everyone was talking about, mainly due to the staging, as Olly and his dancers, dressed in boxing gear, took their places in a set that looked like an underground post apocalyptic club or locker room, as certain parts of the routine saw Olly hanging upside down, before pyrotechnics filled the air in the closing moments.

Fans quickly poured over the rehearsal shots, with one replying: "Some of the best staging we have ever seen" and another writing: "Amazing, the best I have seen this year, well done UK"

And its not just fans who had their attention drawn to Olly's UK entry, as Dizzy is now back in the top 10 in the odds, with an update on the morning of Friday, May 5, seeing Olly in 10th place, as some bookies put him as low as 33/1. He is now just behind well fancied Greece and has out some distance between himself and Norway in 11th.
