Olly Murs has taken to Instagram to rant about his disastrous experience flying to Glasgow after he was forced to miss his gig at the last minute. The chart-topping artist was set to take the stage at Glasgow's Hydro stadium last night (Friday, May 3) as a support act for Take That, but had to pull out just hours before.

Documenting his whole experience on his Instagram stories, the singer poked fun at British Airways for delaying and then cancelling the flight. Timestamping the whole ordeal, Olly made it onto a plane to be left sitting on the tarmac before all the passengers were told to disembark.

After a number of issues, including a flight attendant injuring themselves, the flight was eventually cancelled. An exhausted Olly was determined to find a way to Glasgow for his other shows, but unfortunately had to pull out of last night's performance.

After hours of waiting in anticipation to see if he would make it, Olly eventually posted the bad news on social media. He said: "So sorry to everyone at the @takethat show tonight in Glasgow, unfortunately I won’t be there, I have been at London Heathrow from 11am this morning for my flight but after several delays (check my Instagram) and then a cabin crew incident our @British_Airways flight got cancelled!

He added: "Don’t think I’ve ever missed a gig before, am so annoyed! But am now in a car heading up for our 6hr journey for the Saturday and Sunday show right now".

The venue announced the unfortunate news on its social media platforms, sharing: "We are sorry to advise, due to unforeseen circumstances beyond anyone's control, Olly Murs cannot perform tonight (Friday) in Glasgow. We're very sorry for the inconvenience."

Fans were left heartbroken that the singer had to pull out. While some were left slightly annoyed that Olly didn't make it, most were supportive and offered words of encouragement to the singer.

One person said: "These things are beyond your control. Absolutely no blame of yours! People slating need to remember - he performed 2 days after the birth of his first daughter! Disappointing yes but cmon now cut the guy some slack. See you Sunday!"

Another fan added: "It’s not your fault Olly, I know you will feel bad. If it’s technical issues on the aircraft, it’s better to be safe than sorry. As for the Crew member, bless them, hope they will be ok. They obviously feel bad too."

A third also said: "The wee guy who stepped in was cracking, gutted you weren’t there but what an opportunity for that guy - hope he has a big future ahead".

The former X Factor contestant has recently been celebrating the birth of his baby girl Madison with his wife, Amelia Tank from Plymouth. While settling into life as a new dad, Olly is currently touring with Take That, who are embarking on their global 'This Life' tour, which includes dates across the UK and Ireland.
