Hundreds of people will walk through Chelmsford city centre in an annual event as part of Pride celebrations across the county. The march, planned for June 22, builds on success from 2023 when over a thousand people marched from the city centre to Central Park.

The Essex Pride March is based on beliefs of access for all, protesting for the rights of all community segments, and freedom for people to be their authentic selves. The march, which is free to be involved in, has an accessible route and takes around 30 minutes to complete.

The march starts on Springfield Road next to PopWorld nightclub before winding through the city centre and the parks. It ends in Central Park next to the Essex Pride LGBT+ Festival event.

The march through Chelmsford first took place in 2022 to coincide with 50 years of pride parades in the UK. Since then celebrations have grown with Central Park now host to a large festival of celebrations.

The festival sees local artists as well as high-profile performers take to the stage to entertain the crowds. There are also stalls run by small businesses as well as those offering support to the LGBTQ+ community.

A standard ticket for the Pride Festival costs £24.12 for adults, £13.40 for teenagers and free for those under 12 when accompanied by a paying adult. Family tickets (for two adults and two teenagers) are available for £15.41.
