One person taken to hospital after collision closes A19 near Moor Farm Roundabout


One person has been taken to hospital following a one-vehicle crash near a busy roundabout.

Emergency services were called to the A19 near Moor Farm Roundabout shortly after midday on Friday following reports of a one-vehicle collision in the area. Three double crewed ambulances, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader were dispatched to the area, alongside officers from Northumbria Police.

One person was taken to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary.

The A19 was closed in both directions between the roundabout and the Killingworth sliproad for around two hours. Police advised drivers to find alternative routes.

At the time of the incident, a Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At around 12.15pm today (Friday), we received a report of a one-vehicle collision on the A19 southbound, close to the Moor Farm Roundabout in Northumberland.

"Emergency services are in attendance, and the road is currently closed in both directions. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes where possible."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.12pm this afternoon to a one vehicle road traffic incident at Moor Farm Roundabout. We dispatched three double crewed ambulances, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader. One patient was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary."
