Only Murders in the Building spoilers follow.

Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for a fourth season by Disney+ following that death cliffhanger at the end of season 3.

Season 3 of the hit murder-mystery show from Disney+ ended with yet another cliffhanger murder after our trio of amateur detectives, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, finally uncovered who was behind the murder of Paul Rudd's Ben Glenroy.

In episode 10, which marked the end of its third season, viewers were momentarily tricked into thinking that Steve Martin's character Charles had met his grizzly end only to discover that it was in fact Charles' body double Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch) who had been shot and killed.

Announcing the renewal today, Disney+ confirmed on Instagram that a fourth season of the popular comedy series has officially been greenlit meaning fans will get to find out who is behind the sniper-style execution of Sazz.

"Only Murders in the Building is coming back for season 4! Let the investigating begin..." the caption read.

The third series followed Charles, Oliver and Mabel, played by Martin, Short and Gomez respectively, as they investigated the murder of action star turned Broadway actor Ben Glenroy.

Guest stars in the season included Hollywood legend Meryl Streep, who played Ben's stage co-star Loretta Durkin.

Speaking to Digital Spy about future seasons of the show, production designer Patrick Howe said he hopes to introduce even more apartments in the Arconia building where much of the action is based.

"I don't know what it would be," he said, before suggesting some ideas. "I'd love there to be some more fantasy spaces or something that was really Japanese or full-on Greene and Greene mission style or somebody has a Frank Lloyd Wright-looking estate. It would be arbitrary but get some different looks into the canvas that we've got."

Only Murders in the Building season 3 streams on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK.
