Opening date for outdoor lido just over half an hour away from Nottingham

A public lido close by to Nottingham has announced its opening date, with bookings for swimming slots now available for the upcoming summer season.

The facility at at Ashby Leisure Centre in Leicestershire is gearing up to provide a splash-tastic experience throughout the warmer months, inviting swimmers of all ages. Alongside the pool, visitors can enjoy a large sandpit and refreshments from the 'Splashby Hut', aiming to create an 'Ashby-by-the-Sea' vibe.

A variety of events are planned for the summer, including lane swimming and lively pool parties, with private hire options also on offer.

Managed by Everyone Active in collaboration with North West Leicestershire District Council, the lido is preparing for a bustling season. Duncan Gibb, Everyone Active's contract manager, commented: "We are really looking forward to welcoming families from across the community and seeing everyone enjoying the pool, sun and sand. As the only public lido in Leicestershire, we are expecting a busy summer, so we would encourage people to book their places as early as possible."

He added, "Swimming is a hugely important life skill and the lido allows everyone to enjoy a range of activities, no matter what their age or ability.", reports Leicestershire Live.
