Options mounting for outward bound Coventry City favourite Callum O'Hare

Southampton have shown ‘strong interest’ in outward bound Coventry City favourite Callum O’Hare, it has been claimed.

The newly promoted side are preparing for life back in the Premier League following last month’s play-off final victory over Leeds United, and clearly need to strengthen as manager Russell Martin attempts to boost the quality of his squad in a bid to stay up in what is always a difficult first season.

The Sun’s football reporter Jack Rosser wrote on social media platform X: “Southampton want to bring in a new striker/forward this summer. Ben Brereton Diaz and Liam Delap on the list, still some hope Che Adams may stay too.

“There has been strong interest in Callum O’Hare but deal looks unlikely at this stage.”

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has been offered a new contract to stay with the Sky Blues but the club and fans appear resigned to the player walking away from the CBS Arena as a free agent when his contract ends later this month.

The former Aston Villa prospect, who joined City on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 following a successful season-long loan spell, has also been linked with interest from Celtic, according to FootballScotland, while TEAMtalk claimed Leeds United and Burnley are keen. West Ham have also been mentioned as possible suitors for his signature.
