Orange County Sheriff's Officers Release Sea Lion Back Into Ocean

An eight-month-old sea lion who was found malnourished a few months ago is back swimming in the ocean off California. The Ocean County Sheriff’s Office helped release Brixton, the name given to the sea lion, on Monday, March 20, near Dana Point.

Brixton was found near Newport Beach about three months ago and was underweight and malnourished, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. The Pacific Marine Mammal Center nursed Brixton back to health.

The center helps rescue sea lions and assorted seals that are stranded or in other distress, nurses them back to health and then releases them back into the ocean. There are currently 18 sea lions in the center’s care. Credit: Orange County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
