‘Ordinary Angels’ Get New Date After Moving To Dodge Taylor Swift Concert Movie – Update

UPDATED with new date: The Hilary Swank drama Ordinary Angels has landed a new date. The pic from Kingdom Studios and Lionsgate now will open wide February 23.

PREVIOUS EXCLUSIVE, September 1: The Kingdom Studios and Lionsgate drama Ordinary Angels, starring two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank, is departing from its October 13 theatrical release date as AMC’s Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour looks to open to at least $70 million off a female-heavy audience.

Universal’s The Exorcist: The Believer, seeing the crazy amount of presales for Taylor Swift at $37M+ yesterday, opted to go a week earlier on October 6, a much richer release date where Joker and Venom both launched.

No bother for Ordinary Angels, which is TBD, in regards to its release date. Lionsgate runs an entirely grassroots campaign on these pics, so there’s flexibility and no wasted media or P&A costs. Furthermore, we understand that Swank wants to promote the pic. So, potentially waiting out the SAG-AFTRA strike is prudent for a smaller feature like this one.

Based on a true story, Ordinary Angels centers on Sharon (Swank), a fierce but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky who discovers a renewed sense of purpose when she meets Ed (Alan Ritchson), a widower working hard to make ends meet for his two daughters. With his youngest daughter waiting for a liver transplant, Sharon sets her mind to helping the family and will move mountains to do it. What unfolds is the inspiring tale of faith, everyday miracles and ordinary angels.
