Orlando Bloom finally explains why he was paddleboarding completely naked

Last August, we were all left suitably stunned when photos emerged of Orlando Bloom paddle-boarding totally naked in the middle of the ocean in Italy.

Arguably even more bizarre, Orlando’s then-girlfriend, Katy Perry, was sat inches in front of his nude body, but clothed in a bikini.

In short, it was all very weird.

The fact that Katy and Orlando were in the middle of the sea, i.e. definitely not somewhere secluded and/ or private, left many wondering why Orlando had decided to whip his rude bits out for the paparazzi – and now the Hollywood actor has opened up about the incident.

Speaking to ELLE magazine, Orlando claimed that he had no idea the paps were lurking, explaining: “It was extremely surprising. I wouldn’t have put myself in that position if I’d thought it would happen.

“I’ve been photographed a million times in a million different ways. I have a good radar. We’d been completely alone for five days with nothing around us.

“So I had a moment of feeling free… What can I tell you?”

Lesson learned? Never let your guard down.

Despite their paddle-boarding bonding experience, Katy and Orlando sadly called time on their romance last month but the pair have remained incredibly amicable.

Speaking out on their strong friendship, Orlando admitted that he hoped to set a good example to their young fans.

The father-of-one shared: “We’re friends. It’s good. We’re all grown-up. She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don’t think anybody cares what I’m up to. Nor should they.

“It’s between us. It’s better to set an example for kids and show that [break-ups] don’t have to be about hate.”

A sentiment that we couldn’t agree more with.
